Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The Sussex Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting (AGM) is one of the most significant events in our calendar. Held annually in the autumn, the AGM provides Members with the opportunity to review the Chamber’s performance, influence governance decisions, and help shape the future of the Sussex business community.

Why Attend the AGM?

The AGM is more than a statutory requirement—it’s a chance to:

• Stay informed about the Chamber’s financial performance and strategic priorities
• Participate in governance decisions that impact the local business landscape
• Gain insights from national policy experts on the economy and business environment
• Network with influential business leaders and decision-makers across Sussex
• Refreshments- Tea/Coffee/Danish and fruit 

Who Can Attend?

• Members: Any Member of the Sussex Chamber of Commerce can attend the AGM. Each Member company is entitled to one vote on resolutions.

What Happens at the AGM?

The AGM agenda includes key governance items such as:

• ✅ Approval of the audited annual accounts
• ✅ Confirmation of new Non-Executive Board Members
• ✅ Approval of the minutes from the previous AGM
• ✅ Appointment of the Chamber’s auditors for the coming year

Occasionally, Members may also be asked to vote on amendments to the Articles of Association or other governance policies.

To ensure transparency and informed decision-making, Members can request the following documents in advance:

• Notice of AGM
• Audited accounts
• Previous AGM minutes

This allows Members to review information and raise any questions before the meeting.

The AGM will be hosted by Ana Christie, Chief Executive Officer of the Sussex Chamber of Commerce, who will provide an overview of the Chamber’s achievements, challenges, and strategic direction for the year ahead.
