Charity Cricket Day in Memory of Maggie Smith
We’re excited to invite you to a special Charity Cricket Day in loving memory of Maggie Smith, taking place on Saturday 13th September at St James Montefiore Cricket Club, Keymer Road, Ditchling.
This wonderful event will celebrate Maggie’s life while raising vital funds for the Sussex Cancer Fund to help support cancer patients across Sussex. It promises to be a fantastic day of sport, community spirit, and remembrance.

⏰ Time: First match starts at 11:30am, with activities running until around 6pm

Whether you’re a cricket fan or just fancy a day out with friends and family, everyone is welcome. All proceeds will go to the Sussex Cancer Fund to help improve facilities, fund therapies, and support services for local people going through cancer.
This event is held in memory of Maggie Smith, who was a much-loved part of our community. Maggie’s family and friends wanted to mark her memory with a day that reflects her love of togetherness, sunshine, and laughter – and we’re proud to be part of it.

Wolo Africa 100 - 2025

Wolo Foundation in collaboration with Africa Wild Trails will deliver this international charity adventure Run & Trek. All funds raised will help many families affected by cancer in Sussex.
All participates will complete this challenge for Wolo Foundation, for themselves, for the journey and to contribute to nature.

Wolo 100 Trail Run & Trek

The Wolo 100 is a multi-day Run & Trek covering 100 miles or 100 kilometres making use of a network of game paths and tracks within thousands of hectares of South African bush in the Province of KwaZulu Natal. Located on the eastern seaboard/Indian Ocean.
This 10 day journey through the African bush, The Tugela River and rural Zulu communities will give you the opportunity to run or trek 100 miles through areas where there is plenty of wildlife, wonderful scenery and friendly people. The terrain is varied, but is predominantly undulating game paths dotted with tall standing aloes and acacias. There will be an underlying ethos of nature conservation, culminating in the release of a giraffe to help increase the gene pool of the current population, which is essential to the future of this vulnerable species.

As well as a busy exhibition, there will also be free seminars and workshops from Sussex's leading keynote and business speakers as well as a speed networking session.

This event will be taking place at Brighton Racecourse. Located just off the A27, the venue has over 1,000 free car parking spaces and has fantastic sea views.

Brighton Racecourse is easily accessible by car and public transport including buses. The venue is located just off the A27 and is easily accessible from across the South Coast.
Apprenticeship Roadshow 2025
The Sussex Council of Training Providers (SCTP) is working in partnership with the East Sussex Careers Hub to run two roadshow events that will be taking place on:
- Tuesday 24th June, 4:30pm-6:30pm, White Rock Theatre – Hastings
- Thursday 10th July, 4:30pm-6:30pm, Welcome Building – Eastbourne
The events will bring together employers, training providers, adult job seekers, young people and their parents/carers to provide up-to-date information on apprenticeships from pre-employment to higher and degree apprenticeships.
The apprenticeship roadshows will:
- Give employers and providers a platform to showcase their live and future apprenticeship opportunities.
- Give potential candidates the opportunity to meet employers and training providers and to find out about live and future vacancies.
