East Sussex College is responding to the immediate needs of the local Health & Care sector by making its popular Care Sector-Based Work Academy available online.

The online course is helping people, who may be looking for work or a change in career, gain employment in this vital sector.

The five day, online, tutor led course covers the principles, values and types of care, the skills and attitudes needed to work in the sector, communication, safeguarding, and duty of care.

As well as these key knowledge, skills and behaviours, students will benefit from pre-employment training and interview preparation. Utilising the college's employer network students will be guaranteed interviews with three local care employers once they have completed the course.

One student said, "I found the course insightful. The teachers were diligent and aimed to make sure I was always on the right track. The after-class help was also brilliant. If I didn't understand something in the session, there was a session later to help you understand it properly."

Another student said, "It was an amazing course, and it really helped me get back into learning. My tutor and assessor were amazing, and they really helped me to move on in terms of getting back out there."

All of our Sector-Based Work Academies are funded through the Education & Skills Funding Agency. No course fees are charged to employers or individuals who are unemployed/earning less than £16,000 per year.

East Sussex College can tailor Sector-Based Work Academies to your specific business needs to help support your recruitment process.
