Gala Dinner Raises Over £30k to Inspire the Next Generation of Engineers

Greenpower welcomed more than 120 supporters to its prestigious Gala Dinner on 12 March, held at the iconic Goodwood Estate—home of British motorsport heritage and a fitting backdrop for an evening celebrating innovation, engineering, and Greenpower’s mission to inspire the next generation of engineers through hands on STEM education.

The event brought together leaders from motorsport, automotive, engineering, education and philanthropy, all united in their support for expanding opportunities for young people to discover and develop practical engineering skills.

A Night of Celebration and Support

Guests were treated to an evening of live music and entertainment before the fundraising stepped up a gear with a high energy auction led by TV auctioneer and antiques expert Nick Hall. His lively hosting encouraged generous bidding throughout the room, helping to drive vital support for Greenpower’s work. Alongside the live auction, a nationwide silent auction enabled supporters from across the country to take part, boosting the total raised.

Motorsport commentator Chris Stevens served as Master of Ceremonies, guiding attendees through stories of Greenpower’s impact and the achievements of teams across the UK.

Greenpower was also honoured by the presence of its Patron, The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, Charles Gordon Lennox, the owner of the Goodwood Estate and the driving force behind the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. His longstanding commitment to the charity plays an important role in raising its profile and impact.

Barnabas Shelbourne, CEO of Greenpower Education Trust

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and donated, playing a part in our charity’s continued success. The generosity shown last night will help us reach thousands more young people, giving them the opportunity to discover engineering in a hands on, exciting and inclusive way.

“Success in STEM can open doors to a huge range of career possibilities—from advanced manufacturing and renewable energy to motorsport, aerospace and emerging technologies—so the impact of this support will be felt for years to come.”

Funds raised from the Gala Dinner will directly support Greenpower’s work across the UK, enabling more schools and youth groups, particularly in underserved communities, to access the programme.
