Building on the success of Sussex Skills 25, this year's event will bring together key stakeholders from across the skills ecosystem to explore the opportunities and challenges facing Sussex's workforce and economy.
A key highlight of the day will be the launch of the new Sussex and Brighton Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) Report, providing fresh insight into employer priorities, workforce needs and the skills required to support future economic growth across the region.
For employers, Sussex Skills 26 is more than a conference. It is an opportunity to help shape how skills investment, education and training provision respond to real business need over the next three years. Be among the first to hear the findings of the new Sussex and Brighton LSIP, understand emerging workforce trends and contribute to conversations that will influence future skills priorities, collaboration opportunities and practical action across Sussex.
This year’s event will place particular focus on strengthening access to opportunity and supporting more people to enter, remain and progress within employment. A dedicated session will explore the growing challenge of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), what this means for Sussex’s future workforce and economy, and how employers, providers and partners can work together through delivery of the Sussex and Brighton LSIP to strengthen pathways into work, progression opportunities and long-term employment outcomes.
Whether your focus is recruitment, retention, productivity, digital adoption, sustainability or developing future talent pipelines, this event offers a chance to connect with decision-makers and ensure the employer voice continues to drive change.
The conference will feature a range of keynote presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions designed to encourage collaboration, share best practice and identify practical solutions to current and emerging skills challenges.

Deputy CEO, Youth Employment UK
Lauren Mistry is Deputy CEO of Youth Employment UK, where she leads work to improve young people’s journeys into employment by strengthening how employers, policy makers and local systems understand and respond to what young people need.
Lauren created and leads Youth Employment UK’s annual Youth Voice Census, one of the UK’s largest surveys of young people’s experiences of education, employment and transition. The Census brings the experiences of thousands of young people into national and local decision-making, helping government, combined authorities, employers and sector partners identify where barriers remain and where change is needed.
Her work focuses on turning that insight into practical change. Lauren works across policy, employer practice and place-based systems to improve access to opportunity and the quality of young people’s experiences of work. She has also led the development of Youth Employment UK’s Good Youth Employment Benchmark, an evidence-led framework that helps employers assess and improve how they attract, recruit, support and progress young people.

IT Manager, PRM Furniture
David Stone leads technology at Paula Rosa Manhattan, a Lancing-based sustainable kitchen manufacturer employing around 150 people. Over nine years he has built IT into a function that drives the business rather than simply keeping the lights on — spanning business systems, service delivery, infrastructure, cybersecurity and the digital workplace.
A member of the Senior Leadership Team, David also represents the UK business on the Ballingslöv Group's Senior IT Council. He is a key member of PRM's AI working group and has seen AI move from curiosity to something now woven through the whole IT service: application development, infrastructure, support and the everyday digital workplace. Alongside that sits the work of agreeing policy and guardrails, and the harder question of how you take an entire workforce from aware to genuinely capable. He believes the tools matter far less than the people and the momentum behind them. Based in Sussex, David is a father of three, a guitarist and a keen footballer.
