Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, part of Elite Hotels, is partnering with the Sussex Wildlife Trust to host a series of events, including a bat walk, in 2019 to celebrate the wonderful wildlife in Sussex.
The partnership is part of Elite Hotels’ ‘In Residence’ series, which sees each of the four luxury hotels offering a programme of events featuring a different resident expert.
Ashdown Park’s In Residence will begin on Wednesday 1 May with a Sussex Wildlife Trust hosted coffee morning in the Country Club. Alexis Pym and Louise Collins from The Trust will be giving an insightful talk about the local wildlife and the ways we can all help support nature through wildlife gardening.
The coffee morning will take place at 10.30am and is open to guests staying at the hotel as well as local visitors. Tickets are £5 per person and all proceeds go to Ashdown Park’s chosen charity of the year, The Queen Victoria Hospital Trust in East Grinstead.
The second In Residence event of the year will take place on Friday 30 August, where the Sussex Wildlife Trust team will lead a bat walk within Ashdown Park’s 186 acres of gardens and grounds. Departing at 6.30pm, the dusk-til-dark walk will take guests on tour to try and find some of the resident bats on the estate, as well as keeping an eye out for any of the other nocturnal wildlife that may be found wandering around the grounds.
Tickets for the bat walk are £27.50 per person and include a two-course dinner in the lounge or garden terrace. Guests wishing to make a night of it can add an overnight stay from £89.50 per person, including breakfast.
Sussex Wildlife Trust’s residency at Ashdown Park will finish with a Partners Ladies Luncheon on Monday 28 October. Charlotte Owen from Sussex Wildlife will be talking about unusual wildlife found around Sussex, as well as what can be discovered on the hotel’s doorstep in the Ashdown Forest.
The Ladies Luncheon is open to ladies and their partners, with tickets including a welcome drink, three-course lunch, coffee and petit fours for £37.50 per person.
