Sponsored by More Radio, the award recognises businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievements across their organisation, with a clear vision, strong growth and a commitment to innovation.

Wave Community Bank was also shortlisted for the Customer Service Award, making the recognition even more special. Business Development Officer Jason Smith attended the event and had the honour of collecting the Best Business Award on behalf of the team.

A proud moment for Wave Community Bank

As a not-for-profit credit union, Wave Community Bank puts people before profit. It provides ethical savings and affordable loans, helping people build financial resilience and access responsible financial services.

Unlike traditional banks, Wave Community Bank is owned by its members, with its focus firmly on the people and communities it serves.

Being recognised alongside so many outstanding businesses from across Sussex is a huge honour and a real boost for their entire team.

The award reflects the hard work that goes into growing the credit union, improving its services and reaching more people who could benefit from becoming a member.

A buzzing day of business, inspiration and networking

The Sussex Business Conference & Awards was about much more than the awards themselves. It brought together businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations from across Sussex for a day of inspiration, learning and networking.

There was a real buzz throughout the event, with a fantastic networking lunch providing the opportunity to meet other local businesses, exchange ideas and make valuable new connections.
The conference also featured an impressive programme of speakers, including keynote speaker Anthony Bennett, known as the 'Miracle Man', who shared his inspirational story of resilience and recovery. Other sessions explored practical business topics, including marketing, smarter spending, tax planning and entrepreneurial success.

The range of topics offered plenty for businesses to take away, whether they were looking to grow, improve their operations, strengthen their marketing or find new opportunities.
It was particularly encouraging to see so many businesses from across Sussex coming together, celebrating their achievements and recognising the contribution local organisations make to the regional economy.

Celebrating the Sussex business community

Jason Smith, Business Development Officer at Wave Community Bank, said:

"Winning the Best Business of the Year is a fantastic achievement for Wave Community Bank and a real testament to the dedication of our team, who work hard all year round to support our members and make a positive difference in local communities.

“Congratulations to all the winners, finalists and shortlisted businesses. To be recognised alongside so many brilliant organisations is something to be proud of, and the event was a fantastic celebration of the talent, ambition and community spirit that makes Sussex such a great place to do business.

“While taking home the Best Business of the Year Award is a moment for us to celebrate, it also motivates us to keep pushing forward. At Wave Community Bank, we’re passionate about helping people manage their money, access fair and affordable financial services, and build brighter financial futures.

“This award belongs to our whole team and the members and communities who make what we do worthwhile. We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and excited about what we can achieve together in the future.”
