Sector Forum Steering Group Committee Opportunities

As you may be aware Sussex Chamber of Commerce, in addition to providing services for its membership, also has a key influencing role for the wider business community.

To ensure we remain representative of the Sussex business community as a whole, the Chamber holds several sector specific forums within our events programme. We currently have very successful forums in: Cyber Security, Construction, Global Trade and Manufacturing & Engineering.

The aims of the forums are:

Inform
The forums provide:
➢ Opportunities for networking and information sharing
➢ Up to date sector news
➢ Sector initiatives and sources of business support.

Influence
The forums act as a positive voice for businesses on a regional basis by:
➢ Continuously promoting the region's capabilities to the wider world
➢ Lobby and represent business to both local and national government.

Innovation
We want to ensure that the regional sector specific community has access to opportunities to innovate within their organisations in order to support growth.

The Sector Committees
We are currently looking to increase the number of members on the following sector forums:

➢ Cyber Security / Technology / AI
➢ Global Trade

The committees will be limited to a maximum of 8 members. Members of the committees will be champions for their own sector and will be responsible for supporting the Chief Executive and Executive Team with the development and strategic ideas for the forums.

Candidate Criteria – Knowledge, Skills, Experience

• Must be a member of Sussex Chamber (or willing to become a member)
• Knowledge and experience of the needs of businesses in their sector
• Participation at quarterly committee meetings
• Participation at quarterly forums
• Enthusiasm, drive and a passion for Sussex business growth

All forums are held throughout Sussex
All quarterly committee meetings are held at the Chamber offices in Burgess Hill

The deadline for expressions of interest Friday 28th June 2019. An informal discussion with interested parties will be scheduled during May with times and dates to be agreed with individuals at our offices in Burgess Hill.
