On Saturday 4th May, Team Marlow had super sailing conditions for their Clipper Round the World Yacht Race Sailing Day. Marlow employees got to grips with their rope on-board using their D2 Racing product (amongst others) to see how they react in racing conditions. As the proud Official Supplier to the 11 yacht fleet, the upcoming 2019-20 race edition will mark Marlow’s 17th year as the rope supplier. During this time, Marlow’s high-performance ropes will have travelled circa 680,000 nautical miles!

Marlow Ropes have been manufacturing rope on the same premises for over 200 years, with historical links to the local community, which can be seen in the Rope Museum at Michelham Priory, Hailsham. The reputation of the British manufacturer comes with responsibility to maintain a high level of service and quality to their customers.

Marlow have built an impressive array of high-profile clients and racing teams around the world. The British Sailing Team, America’s Cup teams INEOS Team UK and American Magic, Susie Goodall (who competed in the Golden Globes Race in 2018 as the only female competitor) and French sailor Marie Gendron (who at the age of 18 built her own boat, a ‘Mini Transat’ and prepares to sail it solo across the Atlantic later this year).

The 2019-20 Clipper Race will start in August and circumnavigate the globe until the race finished in July 2020. Marlow are delighted to support and work with the Clipper Race team and in doing so, gain invaluable technical insight into how the hi-spec lines perform, which ultimately help both professional and amateur sailors alike, win the Race.
