Let’s Bring a Sparkle to Maidstone Care Homes this Christmas
We are pleased to be sharing some brilliant good news we have achieved for Maidstone based care homes, where our HQ is based.
We decided to try and bring some sparkle to those in care homes who could be lonely this xmas. As the Govt covid guidelines restrict visitors going in this year, many could be faced with a lonely Christmas. To bring a bit of cheer, we set ourselves a target of achieving all residents of 5 local homes to receive a present, a huge hamper for the carers and each care home was asked to tell us their wish list star gift. Many chose a karaoke machine , some choosing a massive box of arts and crafts please ! An unusual star gift request was a BA Cabin trolley as one home wants to bring the experience to the residents by replicating a first class VIP holiday trip with afternoon teas delivered to their beds/rooms!!!
However, with the power of social media we teamed up with a lady off facebook who was trying to do the same through her school where she is a teaching asst, Kayte John.
Collaborating with Gallagher Group Maidstone and Rift Tax refunds Ashford we have excelled our targets and reached out to 22 care homes .
This equates to over 1000 presents wrapped for 705 total residents.
The teamwork has been outstanding and brought a sense of Chrsitmas and an uplifting mood amongst Kent businesses and the Rap team, who have all got involved. Its much better than focussing on other words like furlough, lockdown and Tier numbers!
We have had monetary donations of over £7000 which will allow us to continue giving through 2021 and we plan to bring the power of music to these care homes and more. We have singers offering their services, and as this industry has also suffered this year with lack of work, we are paying reduced rates and singers are excited to be included.
We aim to bring a singer to around 60 care homes for a year, on a monthly basis.
This has been amazing end for 3 main companies coming together along with a sole lady off facebook.
The vans at Rap Interiors are being loaded as we speak and deliveries are starting today and continuing through to Monday when everything will be where it should be
We have had an outstanding additional offer from two businesses….an air quality control system to be installed into one lucky care home, from a draw in January, free of charge for a year, from Metrix, members of BITA network and a second gift from Magic Table 360 bringing virtual light projection of images onto tables where residents can virtually touch flowers, keyboard, etc.
We are so grateful for everything that this campaign has received and the support form businesses has blown us away.
We cant think of anything worse than residents in Care homes not having a visit from their relative so we hope our contribution of presents and singing and dancing will be uplifting
Carers are doing a fabulous job of managing situations through an untenable current climate and we are all hoping very much that 2021 brings light in the tunnel to our world. Happy Christmas to everyone, we have all learnt what is precious to us during this year and its people and family, that matter.
We are keeping the Just Giving page open until 24 December, just saying ! Heres the link https://www.rapinteriors.co.uk/news/support-maidstone-care-homes-christmas/
