Kreston Reeves - Celebrating 200 years of history in the South East
Kreston Reeves is celebrating a major landmark this year, its 200th year. The firm can trace its roots back 200 years to 1821, when James Worsfold founded Worsfold, a land, insurance and stockbrokers based in Dover, Kent.
Over the years this business grew and by 1861 it was also operating as auctioneers, accountants and architects. Fast forward to 1923 when Patrick Neylan joined the firm before renaming to Neylan & Co in 1936. The Reeves name first becomes associated with the business following the merger of Neylan & Co and Reeves & Young to become Reeves & Neylan in 1967. This was a name which remained until 2010, when it was renamed Reeves before changing to Kreston Reeves in 2015 to better reflect the firm’s membership of the Kreston international network.
The business has merged a number of times and has also opened offices across the South East to support clients in key locations. It has offices in Canterbury, Chatham and Discovery Park in Kent, in Brighton, Chichester, Horsham and Worthing in Sussex and in London.
Tim Levey, Chairman of Kreston Reeves, comments: “It’s important to remember to look back as well as forward. We were excited to discover this long history of the business however celebrating such an amazing landmark during a pandemic isn’t easy.
“During this special 200th year we are instead going to be focusing on celebrating and sharing news of the achievements of our clients, our people and our Corporate Social Responsibility programme. As part of our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goal, Climate Action, we are also excited to announce that we are committing to planting a tree for every client of the firm in 2021 to demonstrate our commitment to our environment.
“Last year we confirmed our purpose as a firm – Guiding you to a brighter future – which on reflection has already been the purpose of our firm throughout our history.”
