Industrial Construction (Sussex): Giving back to the local community
We believe that giving back to the community is so important, throughout 2021 ICS have developed new ways to ensure they are giving back to their local community.
At the beginning of the year, the ICS team started a foodbank initiative where food is collected, predominantly by staff and donated to the local foodbank - Newhaven Baptist Church.
We have been blown away by the generosity of our staff making donations throughout the year.
This year we have collected: 85 tins, 24 packets, 21 jars, 15 packets of pasta, 8 packets of rice, 5 tins of tuna, 4 packets of biscuits, 4 UHT milk pouches and 2 multipacks of crisps.
We would encourage anyone to donate to a local foodbank if there are able to, it really can make all the difference to those who are struggling.
Foodbanks are there for those who need it, and there should be no stigma in asking for help. It can make a huge difference to somebody struggling to put food on the table. There may be a time when you or someone you know may require the help of a foodbank. Visit their website for more information or to get in contact to donate surplus food: http://www.newhavenbaptistchurch.co.uk/ or contact Jacqueline Parson, the Pastor 01273 933205.
The Newhaven Baptist Church services over 120 households each week and organises a collection on a Wednesday and Friday morning between 9:30am and 12pm. This can be a place where people can have a chat, in a warm and comfortable environment. There is also a shower room, washing machine and dryer for people that need to freshen up and wash their clothes. This can give those in need a sense of belonging and acceptance as well as an opportunity to speak to people they may not have met in day-to-day life.
Alongside this, the ICS team have been collecting toys to donate for children to collect over Christmas period. These have been donated by staff and their family as well as our suppliers and clients.
We received a total of; 50 bubble wands, 24 pencils, 13 board games, 13 books, 8 packs of gel pens, 6 puzzles, 5 bath bomb kits, 3 DVDs, 3 construction kits and cars, 1 doll and 1 watch.
Thank you to everyone who has donated throughout the year, we are proud to be supporting this local foodbank and look forward to continuing the initiative in the New Year.
