Graeme Smith - Sussex Business Hero

We are a residential home for adults with profound disabilities.

I would like to nominate Graeme Smith. The most unprecedented challenge we have discovered is the difficulty with getting food delivered. Now, before work Graeme joins the supermarket line and buys us our food for the home.

Our residents are in their bedrooms as much as possible in order to keep them safe and adhere to social distancing. One of our residents has outdoor space but it’s not safe enough for him to be out there alone as there is no fence. I asked Graeme to add it to his list of things thinking it would take a while. But Graeme turned up to work the next day, wondered around our building found 2 old fence panels and a trellis and worked from 7am until 7pm and created the most brilliant area for our resident to enjoy (see attached). Our resident has so enjoyed sitting out in his secure space and his parents are thrilled.

On top of all this Graeme, due to our restrictions,  has to stay outside only coming in if we have an emergency. Graeme is always working hard at whatever is thrown his way.
