Fostering connection and knowledge-sharing among gardeners and growers
At CoirProducts.co.uk, we not only bring sustainable horticultural products, we also recognise the value of community and building connections with other growers and gardeners. We continue to share and highlight inspiring stories of gardeners and growers, and strive to support spaces that foster knowledge and conversation around gardening and its wider benefits for people’s health and wellbeing. As part of these efforts, we recently sponsored a gardening podcast and community, Loose Gardeners.
Loose Gardeners (https://www.loosegardeners.co.uk) was founded by four individuals, Sarah (@sanderson_garden), Debs (@debs_homeandgarden), Leanne (@gardeningandclueless), and Clare Louise (@4mcds_bloomingplot). Having set up Loose Gardeners on Instagram in September 2022, this gardening community has grown over the months, and continues to bring together gardeners and growers.
The podcast covers a range of topics including gardening in general, allotments, wildlife, soil, and influencers, among others. It aims to share information, and swap advice and failings, to help gardeners learn from one another. Recognising the benefits of gardening for mental wellbeing, Loose Gardeners also aims to strengthen that support and help gardeners to connect with one another. As Sarah explains, “it is important to remember our followers are gardeners, but each individual has a different gardening experience and we work hard to make sure everyone has a way to connect to Loose Gardeners.”
With podcasts gaining popularity in recent years, Sarah goes on to emphasise how Loose Gardeners strives to create space for building connections. “Gardening has a reputation for being a lonely hobby, we aim to change that. Share those moments that make you smile with other like minded people by sharing photos, sending messages, adding comments and interacting with the Loose Gardeners account and you'll soon realise there are so many more like minded people in world waiting to connect with you and your garden that you'll wish you found gardengram sooner.
