COVID-19 - support for businesses
Please find below some useful updates on COVID-19 support being offered from us and our partners:
Grant Funding:
Following the Government’s announcement that support will be offered to businesses affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, Wealden District Council are now able to accept applications for grant funding.
A dedicated crisis fund of £47million is available to support Wealden businesses. Grants of up to £25,000 are available to those in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors. Any small business that already pays little or no business rates because of Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR), Rural Rate Relief (RRR) and Tapered Relief, is eligible to apply for a one-off payment of £10,000. Premises Open to the Public:
If your business premises are currently open to the public we have produced a Social Distancing poster which could be displayed in any business where needed, to download a copy here or visit our website

Growth Hub – you may also like to make contact with the local government-funded Business East Sussex Growth Hub. They will not have any more information on the government schemes than you can find on the government website at this time, but they may be able to help you with wider business support such as financial planning and business resilience. You can fill in the ‘contact us’ form on the Business East Sussex website and a business navigator will be in touch.
Business Support Services from EDEAL - Eastbourne and District Enterprise Agency are continuing to offer business support including 121’s and social media training which are now being delivered via Skype or Zoom.
