Hastings, UK, 8 May 2018: Small and medium-sized businesses in Sussex can reduce the cost of installing high-speed fibre connectivity by thousands of pounds, thanks to a new Government voucher scheme supported by Beaming, a specialist business ISP based in Hastings.

The new Gigabit Voucher scheme, launched nationwide in April by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, provides eligible businesses with up to £3,000 worth of funding towards the cost of installing fibre-optic leased lines, the fastest and most reliable connectivity available today.

The scheme is open to most businesses that meet the European Commission's definition of a small or medium sized enterprise, those with an annual turnover of less than £50 million a year (approximately £43 million) and employing fewer than 250 people. Qualifying connections will deliver minimum internet speeds of 100Mbps immediately, at least double that of existing connections, and be capable of achieving speeds of 1Gbps without further hardware upgrades in the future.

According to the Government, the UK now has 95 per cent coverage for superfast broadband with speeds of 24 megabits per second or higher. However, most superfast connections still depend on copper telephone wires, which are limited in the speeds they can support. A full fibre connection is required for the fastest and most reliable connectivity.

Sonia Blizzard, managing director of Beaming, comments: "This is fantastic news for small and medium sized businesses in Sussex, which can save a great deal of the cost associated with installing a reliable high-speed fibre connection. Fibre is capable of delivering data around 40 times faster than most 'superfast broadband' connections today and puts businesses on the fast-track to greater productivity, security and success."

"We have seen a serious level of interest already in this new scheme, mostly from companies whose current broadband simply can't cope with the bandwidth demands on modern business and are looking for a more affordable way to future-proof their connectivity. Registered suppliers like Beaming will handle all aspects of the voucher application and should be the first port of call for businesses wanting to transform their office and online environments."
