The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has launched its flagship Chamber Business Awards, celebrating the best of business from across the UK.

The prestigious competition is one of the showpiece events in the business calendar, recognising the best of British business through a series of regional rounds, culminating in a Gala Awards Dinner, which will take place in London on 26th November 2020.

Entries open today and will run until Friday 26th June. Next year’s winners of the Business of the Year award will have the chance to close the market at London Stock Exchange as a prize, a rare opportunity for a private business.

Companies can enter nine categories, covering exports, small business, people development, technology, high-growth, customer service, family business, e-commerce and health and wellbeing.

Bishop Fleming LLP, a member of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, were crowned winners of the prestigious Business of the Year award in 2019. The top 30 advisory firm impressed judges with their pioneering approach to staff wellbeing and development as a key part of overall business growth.

Led by a group of junior Health and Wellbeing champions in each office, the project delivered a year-long, innovative mix of events and activities across a wide range of physical, financial, nutritional and mental health activities.

The firm’s innovation in this area was also recognised with the Chambers’ Workplace Wellbeing Award.

Adam Marshall, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce said:

“The Chamber Business Awards is one of the UK's most contested and prestigious business award programmes. Each year organisations of all sizes and sectors compete for the coveted titles and the national recognition they bring.

“Bishop Fleming are truly worthy recipients of both the Workplace Wellbeing award and Business of the Year, our top honour. Firms are increasingly placing a premium on the wellbeing and development of their staff and Bishop Fleming is leading the way. They have created a culture of inclusion and empowerment with significant investment in development programmes and initiatives.”

Chris Walklett of Bishop Fleming LLP, Winner of the ‘Business of the Year’ award last year, said:

"To win both Business of the Year and the Workplace Wellbeing award is a source of immense pride for the business. We believe staff wellbeing is a right, not a privilege and we’ve established an industry-leading culture that drives the success of our business. We hope our best-practice approach inspires other businesses.”
