Kayla Ente is the founder and Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-op (BHESCo). With a background in accountancy and economics, Kayla followed an exciting international career in renewable energy and business development by establishing BHESCo in 2012. Operating as a social enterprise, the goal of the business was to leverage innovative financial modelling and community investment to develop clean energy projects at no cost to customers.
Her award-winning ‘Pay As You Save’ business model has enabled the development of 66 community energy projects which will collectively reduce carbon emissions by 8,984 tonnes and save project customers £4 million on energy costs. In 2021, Kayla was awarded an MBE for services to community-led energy saving initiatives.
In 2024 BHESCo were winners in the Planet Saver category at the Sussex Chamber of Commerce Awards. In Summer 2025 Kayla was a keynote speaker at the Sussex Chamber Construction Forum. Kayla has been an ambassador for the Chamber since November 2025. She is passionate believer in business collaboration and is keen to work with any organisation who wants to reduce their energy costs and environmental impact.
