The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) are widely respected in government for their influence on business and economic policy and are constantly lobbying Ministers on behalf of their 53 accredited Chambers of Commerce. As one of those 53 accredited Chambers representing Sussex, we are members of the BCC Special Policy Group (SPG) which shapes the business priorities which are put to government and range from infrastructure and communications to skills, education and business rates reform, notwithstanding the issues revolving around Brexit.
In order for the Sussex Chamber of Commerce to have evidence based business priorities to put to the BCC SPG, which represent the pressing issues which our businesses need resolving in order to provide regional growth and prosperity, a series of Sussex policy forums are being held throughout the county. These forums bring businesses together who need a voice directly into government and are facilitated by local business leaders, local authorities and prominent local politicians. Often local businesses are frustrated at getting their voice heard by the policy makers in central government, the policy forums can provide a way to take direct action.
