Construction Forum held at Shoreham Port

It was a fantastic event for Sussex Chamber members involved in the construction industry to understand the extent of the development at Shoreham Port. This provides opportunities to work with the local supply chain and grow the Sussex economy. The extensive commercial property portfolio with over 90 units for starts up companies and larger organisations is amazing as businesses struggle to find suitable space in Sussex. The boat trip allowed members to see the extent of the port’s imports and exports, as well as the port’s contribution to green energy through the use of solar panels and stopping beach erosion by conserving the coastline. Thank you to everyone at Shoreham Port.

It’s true that our company has grown out of all recognition since starting-up on Uckfield High Street in 1973, but we’ve never forgotten our Sussex roots. Becoming a member of the Sussex Chamber of Commerce reinforces our active interest in the local and regional communities. It’s also important that British Chambers of Commerce have strong links with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the Government’s department promoting business overseas.

Scientifica were extremely honoured to receive both the Export Company of the Year, and the Business of the Year awards. There are many award schemes out there, but the British Chambers of Commerce award has rigour and credibility behind it. More than 80% of our business is export, and being recognised at a UK national level gives further credibility and confidence in Scientifica when talking to our customers.

I have found the Export Team at Sussex Chamber of Commerce to be of an excellent standard with their professionalism and customer service. A lot can go wrong with paperwork, and their patience, attention to detail and rapid response have been of the utmost importance to us. For this reason we are happy to work with such a good team and renew.

Today's Manufacturing Forum at C Tech in Worthing was a great balance of industry information and a detailed look at how a focused company is great and growing company (with such friendly staff).

In my long history in Supply Chain I've always worked with big warehouses, products and operations... It was amazing to see how the exact same thing translates into tiny ranges of products and processes.

I can't wait for this forum to continue to grow and strengthen with more and more local Manufacturers and Distributors joining this peer discussion and knowledge exchange event.

Keep it up Sussex Chamber.
