Business Networking Lunch and AGM

The Chamber holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM) once per year, usually in the autumn.  Any Member of the Chamber can attend the AGM but voting is restricted to one vote per Member company.

At the meeting, Members vote to approve the accounts, approve the appointment of new Non-Executive Board Members, approve the minutes of the previous AGM and vote to approve the appointment of the Chambers’ auditors for another year.

Occasionally, changes may need to be made to the Articles of Association or other governance policies and these are also voted on by Members at the AGM.

Guest Speaker - Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce.

Shevaun has been Director General of the BCC since April 2021, she was formerly Head of Business Engagement at Number 10 Downing Street and was at the heart of Government in the Cabinet Office as Head of the Inclusive Economy Partnership.

Her career started in consultancy in London and New York before moving to a strategic planning role at the Walt Disney Company. She then joined Disneyland Paris and was involved in opening its second theme park. She then went into the agency world, running global accounts for Millward Brown, Mindshare and WPP.

She became a partner in start-up digital innovation agency, Independents United, and became an Advisor for the Danson Foundation. More recently, Shevaun was the New Ventures Director for Avado, building new businesses in Edtech and founding the Academy of Digital Business Leaders.

A natural optimist she firmly believes in setting out a clear vision for change, the power of positive thinking and that business must be a force for good.  A Trustee of Barefoot College International, she sits on the Women of the World Foundation (WoW) Board as well as the Board of the International Chamber of Commerce United Kingdom and is an elected member of the General Council of the World Chambers Federation.

A Notice of AGM, the audited accounts, and the previous AGM minutes can be requested giving Members the opportunity to ask any questions or make any enquiries before the meeting itself.
